Have you had a hard time finding Dr Pepper at your local grocery store? If so, you’re not alone. There’s a national shortage of the popular soda right now.
After shortages of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, flour and yeast, Dr Pepper is just the latest product missing from shelves.
In an Aug. 10 tweet, the brand confirmed the situation, writing, “We know it’s harder to find Dr Pepper these days. We’re working on it — hang tight!”
We know it’s harder to find Dr Pepper these days. We’re working on it – hang tight!

“Having trouble finding your favorite Dr Pepper product?” the tweet continued. “We’re doing everything we can to get it back into your hands. That means working with our distribution partners to keep shelves stocked nationwide, while ensuring the safety of our employees. We appreciate your patience, and encourage you to contact your local retailer directly for the most up-to-date availability of Dr Pepper products.”
The tweet also noted that the shortage applies to the original classic Dr Pepper flavor as well as the brand’s other flavors, including the most recent permanent addition to its lineup, Dr Pepper & Cream Soda:

Dr Pepper says the shortfall is due to increased demand.
“Rest assured we’re working with our local distribution partners experiencing low inventory levels in certain markets to meet this increased demand, and we encourage every loyal Dr Pepper fan to continue checking their local retailer for their favorite varieties,” the company said in a statement to CNN.
A nationwide shortage of aluminum cans may be a factor as well, although Keurig Dr Pepper, the soda’s parent company, did not confirm that a lack of cans is part of the problem.
“Beverages in convenient take-home packages like aluminum cans are particularly popular right now, and beverage company employees are doing all they can to make sure store shelves remain fully stocked,” the American Beverage Association, which represents companies that sell non-alcoholic drinks, told CNN in a statement.
Supply chain issues and increased demand in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic have also led to shortages of other popular products, including disposable diapers, Clorox disinfectant wipes and meat.
