LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Many businesses have had to close their doors due to the coronavirus outbreak, but essential businesses are still providing the services we need.

One of those businesses, Palmer Tire, is open and has had to make adjustments like all other businesses. On the ground in the store are X's which are marked for people to stand on to ensure they are keeping proper distance from each other.

"The majority of people see that and they know exactly what it is," Owner Bryan Palmer said.

In between routine cleaning, Palmer says business is slower than usual. However, they are still busy with repairs, tire changes and more.

"People still need to get out and they still need to get their groceries," Palmer said. "They still got to go to the doctor and things like that, so they still need their vehicles and we're here to keep them going."

Bryan's brother, Wayne, runs the business with him. The business has been operating as Palmer Tire for eight years now, but the family has been in the auto repair business in Lexington for decades.

"Most of our customers are customers we've had for years," Palmer noted. "We take care of a lot of people right here in the Southland Drive area, and thats one thing that makes Southland Drive a neat little road to be on. The communities around here do a very good job of supporting Southland Drive and businesses on Southland Drive. Most of them are small, independent businesses like myself."
