All that’s left of the weekend winter storm is a lot of cloud coverage, and a few patchy freezing drizzle showers. Don’t be surprised if you wake up to a bit of ice on the windshields if you’re north of the Hal Rogers and Cumberland Parkways, things may be a little slippery out on the roads this morning. Otherwise, it’s just cold. Temperatures are starting right around freezing.

As we progress through the day, patchy freezing showers will continue. A few flakes could fly in the higher elevations southeast, but no accumulation of either ice or snow is expected. Clouds hang tough today. Higher pressure Tuesday will bring in more sunshine, but temperatures will still suffer in the 30s. We will get a nice boost towards the end of the week, as we move from cold to chilly temperatures, but that will be short-lived. End of the week rain showers will make things gloomy again. The weekend looks to bring in another winter storm that could bring us rain and a more snow. Timing and amounts are still being worked out, we are still 6 days away from it, after all.
