The significant ice weather event is inching closer as we head into this Wednesday evening. Not much has changed as we are still looking at an impactful next several hours into the overnight with many types of precipitation likely. We have an Ice Storm Warning for most of our area including Lexington and south. A Winter Storm Warning for Harrison over to Franklin county and then a Winter Weather Advisory in northern KY. The time frame for the freezing rain and sleet mix is all this evening through midday Thursday with a good swath of freezing rain right around and just south of I-64. Ice totals still look to be between a quarter of an inch all the way up to one inch for our viewing area. The heaviest looks to be between the I-64 corridor and the Cumberland and Hal Rogers Parkways. The further south you live, the less icing you should see. There is stretch of a few hours where counties around and north of I-64 could pick up some light snow sticking on top of the ice. This will still make traveling dangerous. Limit all travel over the next 24 hours. The potential of power outages still exists as well.
