Another storm system is moving our way from Texas as we roll into a new year. A huge area of Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are positioned just to our north as some ice and even snow are both expected for most of Ohio and Indiana and further west too. Strong or even severe thunderstorms are expected in the Deep South around Alabama and Georgia. With temperatures in the low 30s in northern KY, there might be just enough moisture at the onset of the rain to see some ice mixing with the rain, but not enough to create slick roads. Mostly, we will see steady and soaking rain through most of Friday. Even a rumble of thunder can't be ruled out in the afternoon as the cold front nears. Temperatures will surge as a large area of warmth is heading right for us. Highs in the low 60s tomorrow will keep us from seeing any winter weather, but it will feel nice for January first! Another round of showers will help us roll into the weekend as well. We'll finally be left with some nicer, calmer and drier weather for a stretch of about 3 days into next week.
