Active Weather Through Tonight

Windy with showers ending

Rain fell fast and hard earlier this morning making for a very soggy start to the new year, but then we saw the clouds clear and even the sunshine appear sending our temperatures about 25 degrees above normal! With how warm we've gotten today (60s and 70s) a couple of thunderstorms can't be ruled out as the cold front rolls through this evening. The main threat with these storms will be some gusty winds in excess of 40 mph so keep those decorations secure. We will eventually dry out later in the night as the winds die down some too.

Our next chance for rain isn't far away as round 3, if you will, of rain heads back into the Commonwealth late Saturday. The weekend will still hold more showers through Sunday morning with some colder air coming returning as well. Temperatures in northern KY will be cool enough to see a mix or some snow showers early Sunday morning. Central KY could squeeze out a few snowflakes as well, but it's mostly another rain event. Highs on Sunday will only be around 40 degrees, but we will warm up some more through next work week. It also looks like more sunshine is ahead for Monday through Wednesday.
