Summer has arrived in the Bluegrass just in time for the weekend! A big time ridge across the southeastern US will keep pumping up the heat and humidity. After today high temperatures will remain in the 80s through late next week. It won’t just be warm for this time of year. We are expecting some of the warmest days of the year. Saturday will feature highs in the mid to upper 80s. Sunday will be a few ticks cooler, but still very warm. The sudden surge of summer will also bring rising humidity levels.

It wouldn’t be the weekend without a little rain. The heat-of-the-day could spark some pop-up storms Saturday. A batch of more organized storms will arrive late Sunday. There will still be plenty of time to enjoy this taste of summer. Most of the activity looks to occur Sunday night and exit before wake-up on Monday. It will very briefly turn a little cooler behind these storms. Monday’s high will drop back close to 80 degrees. Temperatures will surge once again through the middle of next week. We could hit 90 degrees for the first time this year just ahead of Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer.
