I hope you haven’t put your winter coat away just yet. A serious chill is about to be unleashed on the Bluegrass.

Snow comes to an end this evening. Watch out for slick spots through tomorrow morning. Temperatures have been gradually falling through the afternoon as an Arctic front pushes through the area. By morning we’ll be in the teens with wind chills in the single digits. That’s some serious cold! The first half of this week will be blustery and very cold with this Arctic air mass in place. Tuesday will be even colder after starting near 10°, highs will reach the mid 20s. Temperatures will remain below freezing through Thursday afternoon.

Despite the bitter cold, particularly for this time of year, sunshine will return Monday afternoon. This sub-freezing stretch will feature a mix of sun and clouds. We will increase chances for precipitation as temperatures start to warm late week. Rain and snow showers will be possible late Thursday through Friday. Next weekend looks to be warmer but rainy.
