Here Comes the Heat

Posted

Talk about a pattern flip. We are getting ready to trade storms and heavy rain for heat and humidity. We’ll call today transition day as a cold front continues pushing through southern Kentucky and high pressure builds to our north. We are tracking a small chance for storms today with the best chances down south. Otherwise, clouds will decrease during a warmer and more humid afternoon. Highs today will climb into the mid to upper 80s.

The next several days will be drier and hotter for everyone as a ridge builds across the Ohio Valley. We are tracking highs in the lower 90s plus oppressive humidity levels. The sweltering combination will make it feel more like 100° through the weekend.

The sizzling heat will continue next week with highs near 90° through at least Independence Day. There will be a little room for widely scattered storms to pop-up early next week as the ridge slides east. These will be typical summertime storms that shouldn’t interrupt too many of your holiday plans, including the fireworks.
