Diabetes affects both the young and seniors and crosses all racial lines. It is a disease where a person’s blood glucose or blood sugar levels are too high.

Glucose comes from the foods we eat and insulin is the hormone that helps that glucose get into your cells to give them energy.

Here in the Bluegrass UK Health is leading the way in research, treatment and education. In today’s Digital Conversation, Dia Davidson speaks with Laura Hieronymus with UK Health Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center to find out more about the center and the education programs available to the public and the risk factors for developing diabetes.
