Keeneland is gearing up for another few days of fun and excitement. Unfortunately, the weather wants to “rain on our parade.” Chances for showers and storms will go up towards the end of the week. We’re also down a day this week due to Easter Sunday

Wednesday
Wednesday will be prime for horse racing due to cooperation in the weather department. Take Tuesday’s forecast and pretty much rinse and repeat for Wednesday. The only difference will be more cloud coverage, which will actually work out in the General Admission section. It will be warm, and nice with no chance for precipitation.
Thursday
Warm and humid will be the case for the Thursday races. Winds will be breezy out of the southwest allowing heat to build. Clouds will start thin but will thicken as the day progresses. There is a better chance for showers and storms Thursday, but timing trends seem to hold it off until the evening. Still, a few showers may sprinkle as the final race is run.
Friday
Friday is this week’s “problem day” as showers and storms will be prevalent around the region. The strongest of everything will reside mostly in the morning, but even during the races, showers will be around. The only hope during the day will be the showers taking a more “scattered” approach in the afternoon, so we may be able to dodge a few. Have a rain jacket and try to stay under the Grand Stand. Temperatures will also be much cooler, thanks to a wind shift behind the cold front.
Saturday
Showers will continue Saturday as the last of the frontal showers pass. They will be light and scattered but still present. Temperatures will reside in the upper 40s and low 50s making it a cool day and even cooler in the wind. A rain jacket is a great idea, and many will be sheltered out of the elements.
*Remember that there are no races on Easter Sunday.
