It seems, more often than not that when we’ve started a new season, the temperatures didn’t really follow suit. Whether its too hot, or too cold, it just didn’t “feel” like the season we were moving into. We’re a little over three days until the start of fall and it seems like this year, the plan will “fall” as it should (get it?)
Puns.
Ok, back on track. For the last days of summer 2018, temperatures will sure feel like it. In fact, it will feel more like the middle of summer, vs the end. Still, temperature rising to near 90 degrees will make the end of the summer stay true to its name. Then, as if someone turns on the air conditioning, fall weather works in the day we start fall. Temperatures will take a 5-10 degree drop putting us down in the upper 70s/low 80s starting Saturday and lasting into next week.
If we go back a few season changes, we see that (with the exception of the 2018 summer solstice), not many seasons line up with their representative temperatures. Since last fall, three seasonal changes brought temperatures that made it feel more like the previous season.
Now, is this significant? Not really. It’s not uncommon to have temperatures that don’t quite line up with average highs. In fact, most of the year we get temperatures either too cold or too warm compared to the average high. It’s just fun to use the seasonal time marks to see if we’re “on track” so to speak.
This year, the end of summer and the beginning of fall will feel exactly like they should!
