Happy Labor Day weekend! It’s time to squeeze in one last summer cookout, trip to the lake, and day by the pool this summer. Even though summer may be ending, unofficially, the forecast says otherwise.
The long holiday weekend kicks off with a warm and muggy evening. Some high school football games may see a thunder and lightning delay. These scattered storms are producing torrential rain and lightning. We are tracking activity to fizzle once the sun goes down. Skies will be partly cloudy overnight with temperatures remaining in the 70s.
We’ll rinse and repeat Saturday. If you’re heading to the Cats game, be prepared for a steamy one. We are tracking highs near 90°. Breaks for sunshine on a steamy day will help to fuel another round of storms. Activity will be hit or miss and could briefly dampen outdoor afternoon plans. Let’s hope the clouds don’t open up over Kroger Field.
Maybe a trip to the lake is in your holiday weekend plans. It’s looking good on Lake Cumberland and other area lakes this week. The water will be warm, and skies will mostly cooperate. Storm chances drop and temperatures go up Sunday. We are tracking a few more spots to flirt with 90°.
Labor Day will be the hottest day of the holiday weekend. We are also tracking more sunshine. Sounds like a perfect day to hit the pool! Summer hangs on after the holiday. High temperatures will continue to bounce around the mid to upper 80s through the end of next week.
