Starbucks just dropped the 2018 season for Pumpkin Spice Lattes and fall fans are rejoicing like it’s surprise field trip day. It’s not even Labor Day people! I mean, Halloween decorations are already hitting shelves??? I know, I know, “get off my lawn.”
Fall, is it really you?

Ok, so now that we’ve officially entered Pumpkin Spice Latte season, will the weather cooperate here in Kentucky? Negative Ghost Rider. In fact, our LEX 18 StormTracker Gopher just predicted two more weeks of summer…at least! That’s right, heat and humidity is sticking around.
We hit 90 yesterday and today. Temperatures cool slightly midweek, but ramp back up over the weekend. Humidity in place has been making it feel like the triple digits. Humid conditions will stick around as well as we get trapped in a moisture-laden air mass into the weekend as well. Even next week, temperatures flare into the Monday/Tuesday time frame and we’ll challenge 90 again for Labor Day. The only cool down through the next 8 days will be the rain showers that pass overhead.
So I guess the next question is…”WHEN do we cool down?” Well, long-range models are showing a more active weather pattern remaining in place through the next few weeks. This is good, because each passing front will continue to lower the temperatures. If we get lucky and hit a big Canadian air mass things will feel nice for a while. We could be waiting until late September until that happens though.
So bottom line…you’ll have to find a cold room to enjoy your lattes. Thanks “a latte” summer!
