(LEX 18)– On “State of the Commonwealth” this week LEX 18 takes a look at each of the candidates before Tuesday’s primary election.

Attorney General Andy Beshear has deep political roots in Kentucky. His father, Steve Beshear, was a two-term governor, one time Lt. Governor, and former Attorney General.

Andy has vowed to make his own mark in Kentucky politics. As attorney general, Andy has tackled cold cases, cyber crimes, and human trafficking. He is also known for going head-to-head with Governor Matt Bevin outside the courts over the pension crisis.

“You’re shutting out the public. You are tricking them. You’re turning a sewer bill into a pension bill,” Andy said.

Andy Beshear supports casino gambling and sports betting to fund pensions. His father tried in the past and failed.

Andy favors legalizing medical marijuana, and he has said that he would oppose a bill banning abortion if the supreme court overturned Roe V. Wade.
