(LEX 18) — LEX 18’s “State of the Commonwealth” convened a panel to discuss the opioid crisis that is ravaging communities in Kentucky and across America.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 1,400 Kentuckians suffered opioid-related deaths in 2017, a rate that’s almost double the national average.

Joining us to talk about the crisis: Jerod Thomas, president and CEO of Shepherd’s House; Madison County Judge-Executive Reagan Taylor; Amanda Fallin-Bennett, a researcher at the University of Kentucky and a program director at Voices of Hope; and Van Ingram, the executive director for the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy.
