The Kentucky Rugby Club is anticipating a very special season in 2019.
The Wildcats have won the previous two Southeastern Conference Rugby Championships.
They also have the two-time defending SCRC Player of the Year in Brendon Esson.
In 2017, the Wildcats fell in the Final Four of Nationals. In 2018, they would fall in the Elite 8 but were the Runner-Up in the SCRC 7s.
And in 2019, the team basically returns most of its starters and they have loaded up with talented recruits.
"I know we should win nationals this year," said Esson. "We are very talented, and Gary [Anderson] has brought in one of the biggest freshmen classes of the year. Since I've been here, it's looking good."
"Just the experience of the guys with that confidence, there's an air about it," said Kentucky Senior Grant Broeder. "You come in, we know that we win, we can feel that we win, and people that come here can see that we win. The fans love us, the players that played in the past love us and love where the program is going, and just that in itself is a confidence booster because we represent a brother hood that is Kentucky Rugby."
Kentucky will open the 2019 season August 31st at IUPUI.
