LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Just in time for the 2019-2020 event season, fans will enjoy some changes at Rupp Arena.
Chair-back seats have replaced bleachers in sections 211 through 217 and sections 228 through 234. Bleachers will remain in sections 218 – 227 and 235 – 244.
The new seating means more leg room and easier access to the aisles.
“It's going to make the event experience for over 5,000 fans and patrons much improved."
Fans will also enjoy new food in those chairs. Rupp arena welcomed its first executive chef when it partnered with levy restaurants earlier this month.
Premium food options will be offered at concessions, like a short rib toasted cheese sandwich, hot brown nachos, and barbecue mac n cheese.
"I think it's neat to showcase your state and there's nothing that says Kentucky like a lot of these dishes,” said Levy Executive Chef Chris Ross. “It's awesome that somebody can come and expect maybe just a hot dog, and then get something amazing to resemble a home-cooked meal."
Fans will get the chance to start enjoying these new features this Friday night at Big Blue Madness.
