UK Linebacker, Josh Allen, has been named one of five finalists for the Walter Camp National Player of the Year Award.
The Senior is the only defensive player on the list along with 4 quarterbacks. He’s joined by Will Grier of West Virginia, Gardner Minshew of Washington State, Kyler Murray of Oklahoma and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
Glad to see Josh Allen on this list. A great story. Just a dominating football player. Had one scholarship offer (Monmouth) before he came on Kentucky's radar.

Allen has 84 total tackles this season and 14 sacks. He also became UK’s all-time sacks leader with 28 and a-half for his career.
It’s somewhat rare for a defensive player to win the award. Only three have done so previously. Linebacker Hugh Green of Pittsburgh in 1980, Cornerback Charles Woodson of Michigan in 1997 and Linebacker Manti T’eo of Notre Dame in 2012.
