Kentucky was coming off its first win over Florida in 32 years and hosting a Murray State team it could easily overlook with Mississippi State coming to Lexington next weekend.

The Wildcats took the opening kickoff and chipped away at the Racers defense. Then Wilson used the fake toss to Benny Snell and kept up the middle, showing off his speed to score on a 42 yard run. UK caps off an 8 play, 91 yard drive in 3:51. 7-0 Wildcats.

On Murray’s first drive, the Racers ran 9 plays and picked up 28 yards but they were forced to punt and it was a good one going out of bounds at the one yard line.

Kentucky would get the ball back and drive seven plays and just 16 yards before settling for a 40 yard field goal from Miles Butler. It was UK’s first attempt of the season and first in of Butler’s career.

The Kentucky defense would make another stop and the UK offense would get it going again. This time the Cats went to a steady mix of running plays with Snell and Wilson completing passes to several different receivers. Snell would finish a 14 play, 64 yard drive with a tough 7 yard run into the endzone. Cats lead 17-0.

Murray State would drive at the end of the half and take a 34 yard field goal as time expired. It was good as UK would take a 17-3 lead into the half.

Terry Wilson was 12-of-14 for 82 yards and ran for 56 more and a score. Snell would rush for 63 and the touchdown. UK would lead in total yards 214-134.
