This will be Williams first tour event since losing in the third round of the Australian Open in January. She's currently ranked number nine in the WTA.
Serena has won 23 grand slam singles titles which is the most in the modern era. She's won 39 overall when you include doubles and mixed doubles.
Unfortunately fans will not be allowed into the tournament to watch Williams play in the event.
