Jomaru Brown Voted OVC Co-Freshman of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University guard Jomaru Brown has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Week for men’s basketball, the league announced Monday.

Brown averaged 22 points, 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists-per-game last week. He exploded for a career-high 30 points to lead EKU past Tennessee State, 75-65, on Saturday night at McBrayer. He added five rebounds and four assists in the win.

On Thursday versus Belmont, Brown scored 14 points to go along with three assists, three steals and three rebounds.

The native of Raleigh, North Carolina shot 48.5 percent (15-of-31) from the field and 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the free throw line during the week.

Browns ranks third among all freshmen in the OVC in scoring during conference play (16.2 points-per-game). He also ranks fifth in the league in steals-per-game (1.8).

EKU returns to action on Thursday when the Colonels travel to Morehead State to face their in-state rivals at 7:35 p.m. ET.
