MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State’s football coaches will once again participate in Coach to Cure MD when the Eagles travel to Pioneer Football League opponent Butler on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

Coach To Cure MD is a partnership between the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), a professional organization for more than 10,000 college football coaches and staff, and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest national charity devoted exclusively to Duchenne (DOO-SHIN) muscular dystrophy.

“Our staff looks forward to participating in this event every year,” head coach Rob Tenyer said. “So many families are affected, and we feel it is extremely important to support this cause to help those afflicted. We hope everyone will join us in supporting the fight against this disease.”

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive muscle disorder that causes loss of muscle function and dependence. One in approximately every 3,500 children are affected, and life expectancy for those individuals is only in the 20s. Research to find a cure is ongoing at many colleges.

Fans can make a $10 donation by texting the word “CURE” to 90999. Donations of any dollar amount can also be made on-line at CoachtoCureMD.org. Individuals wanting to support the cause are encouraged to spread the word on social media and use the hashtag #TackleDuchenne on Twitter.

Morehead State’s and Butler’s coaches will wear a Coach to Cure MD patch on the sidelines during the contest. More than 500 college football programs and 10,000 coaches participated in 2017. The program has raised well more than $1 million over the past five years.
