Georgetown College football received word Monday afternoon that opponent St. Andrews University, out of Laurinburg, NC, was in need of adjusting the schedule for this weekend’s football game. This set the wheels in motion for a lot of shifting, but due to the tireless effort of GC Director of Athletics Brian Evans and Scott County High School Athletic Director Austin Haywood all has been worked out.

The No. 9 Tigers (1-1) will play the Knights (1-1) 7 pm Friday, while the undefeated Cardinals will host LaSalle High School out of Cincinnati, Ohio 7 pm Thursday.

“It is a great partnership and working relationship that we have with Scott County High School and its athletic department,” Evans said. “Once we got a heads up from St. Andrew that things were changing because of the hurricane, we began working with Austin and his staff.

“It’s been a lot of phone calls and conversations with both sides working as much as possible to make a difficult shift easier. We are very thankful of all the work Dr. (Kevin) Hub, Coach (Jim) McKee, Austin, DT Wells and the entire school system has done.”

This is the second straight season a hurricane has altered a home game for Georgetown. The Tigers were forced to cancel a game with Southeastern University (Florida) in 2017.
