Kentucky high school basketball won't use the jump ball, new COVID-19 rule for the 2020-21 season

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky High School Athletic Association released its "Return to Competition" for various sports. Basketball received a newly adopted rule that will start games with a coin flip instead of a jump ball.

So, the game will start with the home team calling the coin flip. If it goes into overtime, the visiting team will call the coin toss. Every other time the ball is "tied up" it will be an alternating possession.
