Kentucky volleyball up to No. 3, receives first place votes

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches’ Association announced its top-25 coaches’ poll on Monday afternoon with Kentucky slotting in at No. 3, and receiving a pair of first-place votes.

Kentucky ended the 2020 fall season as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation, but only teams that competed in the fall were eligible for rankings. Now that all teams competing in the 2020-21 season, the full field is eligible for rankings.

UK is one of three teams from the Southeastern Conference inside the top-25 with Florida at No. 12 and Missouri, who UK beat twice in the fall, at No. 16.

UK is 10-0 on the season after a two-match sweep of Arkansas this past weekend in Fayetteville, not dropping a set along the way. Kentucky travels to Georgia in two-weeks’ time after a bye upcoming this weekend.

Wisconsin was ranked as the No. 1 team in the country for a third-consecutive week, after they swept Illinois in Champaign, Ill. They received 48 first-place votes. Texas was No. 2, who is 14-0 this year and was complimented with 10 first-place votes.
