Crockett Passes Magrane on Scoring List in Women’s Hoops’ Loss at JSU

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Senior guard Miranda Crockettscored 15 points and moved into fourth on the Morehead State women’s basketball all-time scoring list as the Eagles dropped a 68-57 decision to Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State on Thursday evening at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Crockett built her career points total to 1,705 as she scored in double figures for the thirty-second consecutive game. The Martinsville, Va., native passed Julie Magrane (1988-92, 1,697) to move inside the top-five scorers in women’s hoops history.

The Eagles (19-9, 10-5 OVC) made just 25-of-67 (.373) shots from the field, including a 3-of-21 (.143) from deep. Morehead State was also held to 4-of-8 (.500) on free throw attempts as compared to a 20-of-28 (.714) makes at the line for the host Gamecocks.

Graduate McKenzie Calvert posted a game-best tying 16 points for the Eagles

Jacksonville State (13-13, 7-8 OVC) avenged a 66-55 loss at Johnson Arena on Jan. 26 with the win. The hosts were carried by Yamia Johnson with 16 points off the bench. Forward Rayven Pearson inputted 12 points and a game-best 14 rebounds for her squad in the win.

Morehead State won the rebounding battle 44-34. Senior forward Tierra McGowan cleaned 12 boards off the glass for the Eagles.

Morehead State will next take on Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn., on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
