Lexington, Ky. (LEX 18) — Western Hills’ Wandale Robinson received the 26th Paul Hornung Award Thursday in Louisville.
Robinson was also named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year.
It’s been a busy week for Robinson, who was named Mr. Football for Kentucky, was presented with his Adidas All-American jersey and, of course, his decommitment from the University of Kentucky for Nebraska.
“I just had to follow my heart and it’s really where I feel I fit the best,” said Robinson after the awards ceremony. “I just sat down with my family and talked to the ones closest to me and ultimately I made the decision to decommit from Kentucky and got to Nebraska.”
Robinson was a star at Western Hills this past season. Offensively, he racked up nearly 3,000 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also had 119 tackles and a touchdown, as well as a special teams return for a touchdown.
