Lexington, Ky. (LEX 18) – Despite STILL being a 2-point underdog against South Carolina (will most likely change by kickoff), Kentucky is starting to build a target on their back.
After a dominating 28-7 win over then No. 14 Mississippi State last Saturday, UK is starting to turn heads, even vaulting themselves to No. 17 in the latest polls.
There’s a buzz that is now following this UK football team, and it’s nice. It’s been probably a decade since this team has received THIS much buzz. They were last ranked in 2007.
So how are the players handling it?
Kentucky has always been the team on the hunt. Now, people can say they’re the team being hunted. Especially this weekend when they host South Carolina, a program they haven’t lost to since 2013.
“It’s always about wanting to be the hunter,” said UK Running Back Benny Snell Jr. “You always got to want it. You always got to stay focused. You can never switch up what you’re doing, especially when you’re having success. You can’t lose your head. We play good opponents and we’ve played good opponents in the past so it’s all about staying focused and attacking. And you have to be the hunter all of the time, especially in the SEC.”
Kentucky and South Carolina kickoff at 7:30 pm on Saturday at Kroger Field. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
