MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — There will be a public visitation for Savannah Spurlock, a mother of four whose remains were found this week on a Garrard County property.
The public visitation will be Tuesday, July 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home on Barnes Mill Road.
There will be a private funeral held separately for close family and friends only. The burial will also be private.
The 23-year-old went missing in January 2019. In the months following her disappearance, many people were drawn to the case and searched for the missing woman. Volunteers, many who didn't even know Savannah, searched for her, advocated for her online, and put up tip boxes and posters to help find her.
On Thursday, Kentucky State Police and Savannah's family confirmed that the remains found on Fall Lick Road were those of Savannah Spurlock.
Her aunt, Lisa Thoma, released a heartfelt statement from the family in a video to the Missing Savannah Spurlock Facebook page, thanking the many volunteers, organizations, law enforcement agencies, and media agencies for their help in the case. "Our sobs of pain and physical anguish are met with moments of our beautiful memories of the vibrant and vivacious person she was. She lives on through her precious boys who each carry a special part of her in them. We know that Savannah has not been suffering all of this time. She has been cradled in the arms of our great savior Jesus Christ. As we have cried out to Him through the unknown, we continue to cling to Him through the pain and heartache of the truth to come."
Thoma ended the statement with, "Savannah, we love you so much. Rest in Heaven. Thank you."
