September 2019 will go down as Lexington's driest month on record. The entire month was met with very little rain and drought conditions. The Blue Grass Airport failed to collect any measurable precipitation, which is anything at or above a hundredth of an inch. This time of the year has a reputation for a lack of rain events due to summer-like high pressure ridges. Until these patterns break, rainfall is minimal at best. As you can see in the graphic above, all five of the top driest months on record are between August and October.
