Peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and meatballs, chips and salsa — some food combinations are simply destined to be delicious.
Now, Panera’s at-home line is offering its own tantalizing combination by mixing together two popular Panera menu items — broccoli cheddar soup and mac and cheese — to create one savory dish.
The new broccoli cheddar mac and cheese combines two cheddar cheese sauces into a velvety blend that goes over a medley of macaroni, broccoli florets and julienned carrots. The new dish is available only at grocery retailers.
Broccoli cheddar soup is Panera’s top-selling soup, and the eatery’s classic mac and cheese, made with Vermont white cheddar, is its bestselling macaroni dish.
For now, the new broccoli cheddar mac and cheese is available in certain supermarket chains, including Food Lion, Giant, Martin’s and Jewel, and the product will have wider grocery expansion in the fall. It will cost $6.99 for a 16-ounce container.
If you can’t find the new dish near you just yet, you could always head to Panera to buy the soup and macaroni and cheese separately and then combine them.
Or if you’d rather make it yourself, there are plenty of recipes online. This recipe for creamy broccoli mac and cheese from Damn Delicious calls for some staple ingredients like flour and milk, as well as pasta, chopped broccoli and extra-sharp cheddar cheese. You could also add julienned carrots if you want the dish to resemble Panera’s recipe.
Of course, you can’t go wrong with just classic homemade mac and cheese, and these fun recipes will easily level up your cheesy pasta game.
