LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A guilty plea was entered for a man charged in connection to a 2020 homicide on Alexandria Drive.

Kevin Velasco-Gomez entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of manslaughter in the first degree and tampering with physical evidence.

The Fayette Commonwealth Attorney recommended a total sentence of 16 years. Judge Kim Bunnell will rule on the sentencing in March.

The Fayette County Coroner's office said 33-year-old Elaine Costillo was pronounced dead after her body was found the morning of February 10, 2020 in a home in the 2200 block of Alexandria Drive.

Kentucky State Police said 25-year-old Velasco-Gomez was arrested in Simpson County on a murder warrant out of Lexington.

Officials described Velasco-Gomez as Costillo's boyfriend.
