VERSAILES, Ky. (LEX 18) — A recent internet posting listed The Kentucky Castle, one of the most widely recognized landmarks in Kentucky, as up for sale.
However, LEX18 asked co-owner Matthew Dawson about the listing and he says it's more about a call for investors, and they're hoping to find someone with a background in hospitality.
"If we could find a partner that really has hospitality experience, and could take this to the next level and realize the potential. We are very proud of the farm and how we have showcased Kentucky farming and made it a cool destination. We think there is a lot there we just need the right partner to really take it there," said Dawson.
According to the listing posted by Silvestri Real Estate, the current owners have spent over $2 million dollars renovating the castle over the past few years, resulting in a 650% increase in revenue since 2017.
The castle was sold for $8.7 million in July of 2017.
