BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Barren County Middle School teacher has been arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 12-year-old student.
27-year-old William Gardner was arrested Saturday morning after the victim told a child advocate that she and Gardner had sexual contact on at least five occasions.
Gardner has now been charged with rape, sexual abuse and tampering with physical evidence.
He is being held in the Barren County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Barren County Schools released a statement that said it is continuing to monitor the situation and will take all steps necessary to keep students safe.
