LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Once again, UK fans will fill the seats at Kroger Field to watch the Wildcats take on the Florida Gators Saturday night. Which means during the day, there will be plenty of tailgating.

With this heatwave, it's important to remember how to stay safe while having fun.

“The risk of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, anything heat related is definitely going to be amplified being outside for long periods of time,” said Kevin Hall with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.

Beer and other alcoholic drinks are a popular choice when gearing up for the game, but Hall wants to make sure you're making water a priority, stick to shady spots and use the buddy system.

“If people are having excessive sweating and then that's followed by no sweating, clamminess and disorientation. If somebody is out there and they're confused, you want to get them into some air conditioning,” said Hall. “You want to get them cooled off and call a medical provider.”

There are four emergency medical services rooms set up inside the stadium and there will be EMS carts on campus that can get to the parking lot if needed.

All of these things are important to keep in mind so you can make it to the evening game.
