FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Gov.-Elect Andy Beshear announced his cabinet member appointments Thursday at the State Capitol.
Cabinet appointees include J. Michael Brown as Secretary of the Executive Cabinet, La Tasha Buckner as General Counsel, Travis Mayo as Deputy General Counsel, and Crystal Staley as Director of Communications.
Staley has been the Director of Communications with Andy Beshear's Office during his time as the Attorney General.
"The four individuals behind me, I’ve worked with every day over the last four years. Sometimes, in difficult circumstances. I don’t have a closer adviser than Michael Brown. This was an easy decision for me; his experience and his advice," said Beshear.

"Thank you for the opportunity. I’ve said it, I mean It, in my opinion this is the highlight of my professional career," said Brown.
Beshear will be inaugurated on Dec. 10. The theme for Inauguration Day is "Team Kentucky." He hopes many teachers and families from all over the Commonwealth will attend.
He and the future First Lady of Kentucky, Britainy Beshear, announced that they want Kentucky students to be involved in the Inauguration Day. They are holding an art contest where students ages 6-17 are asked to draw about teamwork and accomplishing a goal.
Last week Beshear, joined by Lt. Gov-Elect Jacqueline Coleman, held a news conference to discuss his transition team. The team is made up of more than 150 members from a variety of backgrounds including health care, education, finance, law enforcement, workforce, medical professionals, and community faith leaders.
