MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police reports that one person is dead after a crash that happened around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday on I-75 northbound at the 59-mile marker.

KSP reports that a 2020 Chevy Traverse, driven by 81-year-old John E. Johnson of Rutledge, TN, was driving northbound on I-75 when he lost control and veered into the path of a semi.

78-year-old Shirlee R. Johnson, a passenger in the Chevy, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Mr. Johnson was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
