Police: Man arrested after deadly shooting on Devonia Avenue in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police have arrested a man in connection a shooting that killed another man.

Police say shortly before 6:00 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 100 block of Devonia Avenue for a disorder with a weapon. When officers got to the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim later died at the scene.

Police arrested 32-year-old Steven Smith at the scene and charged him Murder, two counts of 1st degree Wanton Endangerment, 4th degree Assault (domestic violence), and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.

The Fayette County Coronor's Office identified the man who died in the shooting as 57-year-old Clarence Adams.

According to the Lexington Police Department, detectives learned during the investigation that Adams and Smith knew each other and lived at the same home. The 4th degree assault charge is for an assault of another person.
