ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — State police are looking into reports that the driver of a Greyhound bus was texting before the crash that hurt 17 passengers in Rockcastle County Thursday night.

The crash happened around 5 p.m in the Northbound lanes of I-75 near the 71 milemarker. Investigators say the bus hit a tractor-trailer which flipped the semi and damaged the front of the bus. All three lanes were closed for several hours, backing up traffic for nearly ten miles.

Troopers tell LEX 18 that they've heard the claims of texting and that they are still investigating the cause.

That stretch of road has seen a lot of crashes. Since the beginning of 2018, I-75 has seen 477 crashes in Rockcastle County. 105 of those have involved commercial vehicles.
