LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — When Taylor Wright's water broke around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, it was a surprise.

"We weren't expecting a New Year's baby," said Wright.

But, she and Tyler Cramp got one when their son, Tilden Elias Cramp, made an early debut.

"He was two weeks early so we weren't supposed to have him til the 14th," Wright said.

Tilden was born at Baptist Health Hospital at 3:38 in the morning. He weighed eight pounds and 13 ounces, measured 21 inches long and arrived with a head full of hair.

"Lot's of hair," said Wright. "His whole body's full of it."

This is the first baby for both Wright and Cramp, so to make this day extra special, they named their son after someone special.

"It's a family name," said Wright.

"My great-grandpa's name," said Cramp.

Understandably, Wednesday has been an emotional day for the family. They said they're thankful for the helpful nurses at Baptist Health who have helped them navigate the first day as a family of three.

"I shed a few tears. I'm very nervous, but super excited," said Cramp. "I'm ready for the new chapter."

And so far, so good. Baby Tilden is sleeping a lot and Wright said he's surprisingly calm.

"He was kind of crazy in the womb, so I kind of expected him to be a little wild, but he's very calm and he soothes himself," said Wright. "He's been a trooper."
