Man arrested after case from 2015 was reopened

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man from Cynthiana has been arrested and charged with murder in a reopened case from 2015.

According to the Cynthiana Democrat, the man was arrested last week after a lengthy investigation.

The man's name has not been released because he was a juvenile when the alleged crime happened. According to the paper, the crime happened on Dec. 21, 2015.

The man has been charged with the death of Billy Combs, who was 33-years-old when he died.

According to the paper, archived documents stated that Combs was found on Dec. 22 along the river across from Randy's Recycling Center.

Combs was last seen on Dec. 21 around 5 p.m. according to his sister. Police began searching immediately and had help from the Harrison County Search and Rescue Squad.

They began their search at the Pleasant Street bridge, according to the paper, and they planned on continuing to the area behind the Walmart.

They did not continue because Combs body was found within the hour.

The suspect is supposed to appear in Harrison County Juvenile Court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and there may be other charges.
