LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Police have arrested a man in the death of his girlfriend.
56-year-old James A. Aubrey is accused of killing 57-year-old Karen Rae Greenup, of Georgetown. Police say on Monday, July 27, they were dispatched to a home on Warwick Court at around 10:45 p.m. for a welfare check. Officers found the woman and say she died from an apparent assault. Her death is being ruled as a homicide.
Through the course of the investigation, Lexington detectives determined that Greenup had been killed by Aubrey. He is currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Aubrey is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
The homicide is being investigated by the Lexington Police Department.
