Students and bus driver taken to hospital after Letcher County bus crash

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — UPDATE: The Kentucky State Police say the crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Highway 932 in the community of Flatgap.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they found that a school bus was involved in a crash with a coal truck.

Officials say there were 22 students on board and one driver. All 22 students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but no major injuries were reported.

The driver of the coal truck is also reported to have sustained minor injuries.

KSP say that the students were on the bus because they were dismissed at 1 p.m. because of high winds and inclement weather

A Facebook post from Letcher County Public Schools says that the 22 students and bus driver were treated and released from Whitesburg ARH, while one student was transferred for further treatment.

The Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a bus on KY-932 on Friday.

According to officials with the KSP, the crash happened "approximately 2 miles up KY-932."
