LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Convicted serial scam artist Sherman Denny went on trial in Lexington Monday. This time, the charges were a bit different.
This time, he was found guilty of one count of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of fleeing and evading police.
Officials say that Denny nearly hit an officer when he fled from a traffic stop.
Denny has been convicted of theft on several occasions. His M.O. is to convince compassionate victims to give him money by faking illnesses.
Formal sentencing is scheduled for December 13 at 1 p.m. The jury recommended a sentence of 13 years and six months on the wanton endangerment charge and five years for fleeing and evading,
