Man arrested, charged in connection to Winchester Road shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — According to a citation from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Demetrius Maxberry, who was arrested in connection to the Winchester shooting on Tuesday, is reportedly the victim's ex-boyfriend, and they reportedly had a child together.

The citation read that Maxberry was captured on video driving the vehicle at the scene and firing shots toward the victim's vehicle, striking one of the occupants of the targeted vehicle two times.

Upon the Kentucky State Police finding Maxberry, the citation read that he was identified based on the physical description and clothing description seen on the surveillance footage.

While investigating the shooting, police discovered that Maxberry and the victim previously had a relationship and had a child together, according to the citation.

Maxberry, the citation stated, "was confirmed to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms."

Police said a man was arrested in connection with a shooting Tuesday afternoon on Winchester Road.

24-year-old Demetrius Maxberry was arrested and charged with assault - domestic violence, wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Maxberry is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

UPDATE: Tuesday, June 25 at 3 p.m.

Authorities reported that one woman was taken to the hospital with "non-life-threatening" injuries after being struck by gunfire on Tuesday afternoon near Winchester and Liberty, and the alleged suspect reportedly fled the scene.

Officials detailed that at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, police were called to Winchester and Liberty in regards to a woman who had been "struck by gunfire."

The incident, officials reported, is believed to be "targeted." Further, the area is back open.
