ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Former Rowan County Sheriff Jack Carter has died, according to the sheriff's office on Facebook.
The post from the office says that Carter served as sheriff for almost four decades, and when he retired in 2014, he was the longest-serving sheriff in the state.
The office asks that you keep his family in your prayers.
