Police identify woman killed in murder-suicide investigation

UPDATE:

The Fayette County coroner has identified one of the individuals involved in a shooting on Saturday.

23-year-old Christina Fikes died from a gunshot wound. According to the coroner, she died at the scene of the crime.

Her manner of death is considered a homicide, and the investigation is ongoing.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide on Saturday on Hollow Creek Drive.

Police say just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the area for a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived, they located two people outside suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman died at the scene, and the man was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the two who died.

Detectives from the Lexington Police Department's Personal Crimes Section continue to investigate.
