1 person arrested in connection to Glen Arvin Ave. shooting, police report

The Lexington Police Department reports that one person has been arrested in connection to the shooting that happened on August 15 in the area of Glen Arvin Avenue and Georgetown Street.

According to police, 32-year-old Javonte Briscoe was arrested on August 20 after police used the Real-Time Intelligence Center, Flock license plate readers, and FUSUS.

Briscoe is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, according to police.

He is booked in the Fayette County Detention Center.

UPDATE: Thursday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m.

Lexington Police released additional information regarding the scene near Glen Arvin Avenue and Georgetown Street, reporting that one person with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police detailed that officers were called to the area at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday on a reported shooting with a victim. Upon arrival, police reported that a man was found with a gunshot wound.

Lexington police added that this is an ongoing investigation and asked the community and area businesses to check surveillance cameras and contact Lexington police at 859-258-3600 with any additional information that may help with the investigation.
