2 people found dead after investigation near Secretariat Street in Georgetown identified

UPDATE: Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.

The two individuals found dead inside a home in the Secretariat Street area in Georgetown on Tuesday have been identified.

According to the Scott County Coroner, 44-year-old Darci Beaver and 32-year-old Dan Harlow are confirmed to have died from gunshot wounds after being discovered by a family member.

Police were originally called to the area of Secretariat Street in Georgetown on Tuesday around 11:40 a.m.

UPDATE: Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 4 p.m.

An officials with the Georgetown Police provided additional information on the death investigation near the area of Secretariat Street on Tuesday, reporting that two people with gunshot wounds were dead, along with a dog.

Police reported that they were called to the area at around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday by a family member who reportedly was checking on them.

Further, police noted that this is an isolated incident.

The Georgetown Police Department reported on Tuesday afternoon that a death investigation is underway near the area of Secretariat Street.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows that there is "no threat to the public."

Police asked that anyone traveling in the area use caution due to the increased presence of first responders.
